Easter has come! He is Risen! Time to think about reshaping our Lenten feast table into an Easter feast table.
Most obviously, the color will change from purple to white or gold.
From this… (Oh, yes, we’ve been moving things around a bit in our home.)
To this… Now there is a white lace runner for the Easter season. I added our Divine Mercy image (it is one of my favorites!). One of the ways I like to keep Easter going is by praying the Divine Mercy novena from Good Friday to the Sunday following Easter (known as Divine Mercy Sunday). If you haven’t done this before, I can think of no better time to begin than The Year of Mercy!
We’ll be switching our Lenten sacrifice beans for jelly beans on Easter morning. The kids will then get to eat a jellybean for every good deed done in the Easter season. I think this will spark some renewed fervor in our quest to make little gifts for Jesus!
Last year, the kids and I made a resurrection garden. It was lots of fun! Instead of purchasing plants, we just dug up some mosses growing on the north side of the house. It is called “making do,” which seems to be a lost art in our Pinterest driven world. It looked pretty tough by the next morning, definitely not Pinterest-worthy by any stretch of the imagination, but the kids still thoroughly enjoyed the process. Dirt, water…what isn’t there to love? You can find instructions for a prettier resurrection garden at Catholic Icing.

Family Devotions
We’ll be shifting our devotions from the Jesus Tree back to our more regular pattern of prayer and reading.

And of course, a great decoration for the Easter Feast Table can be the Jesus Tree your family worked on through Lent. If it’s too late for it this year, put it in the back of your mind for next Lent!
