I promised to show you what our feast table is looking like this Lent. So here you are!
Decorating the Lent Feast Table:
Starting on Ash Wednesday, this is what our feast table has looked like.
I’m still in the process of collecting things for our feast table. Auntie Leila told me if I kept my eye out, my guardian angel would help me find some things. (Yes, Auntie Leila left a comment on my blog. I feel like I’m an official blogger now!) I took a lot of encouragement from that! Well, my guardian angel must have helped me remember the purple scarf I no longer wanted and had put in the dress up box the other day. It made a perfect runner for our feast table!
So we swapped out the green (Ordinary Time) table runner for the purple scarf and switched to our Lenten peg doll priest (who suddenly went missing when I snapped these photos!).
On Good Friday, we’ll work on making a Resurrection Garden to add to our feast table. We did this last year and it was lots of fun!
This one (from Savings Lifestyle) is pretty similar to ours. Rocks, pot, crosses (ours were made from sticks in the yard), and moss.
Our Lent Devotional:
We’ll be changing things up a little bit from our normal family devotions around the feast table and instead be using our Jesus Tree devotional.
I put the Jesus Tree on another table in the same room as our feast table since it was too big for the feast table. (I’ll be sharing more about what is on this other table in a later post.)
What’s in our Lent Feast Table Book Basket:
(These books will be in our book basket during Lent.)
- The Tale of Three Trees
- The Story of the Cross: Stations of the Cross for Children
- My Path to Heaven (we use this throughout the year, but it is especially pertinent during Lent)
- Life of Our Lord for Children
Lent Book Basket Wish List:
(These are books we don’t own yet, but are hoping to own someday! I really enjoy adding to our library little by little.)
- Through the Eyes of John
- Amon’s Adventure (our family adores the Advent series by the same author)
- Little Rose of Sharon: A Story of Self Sacrifice
- The Colt and the King
A Few Other Lenten Planning Resources:
General Lent Resources
- 66 Things to Give Up or Take on During Lent from Catholic All Year
- Stations of the Cross Box from A Knotted Life
- Lenten Sacrifices for the Young and Old
Booklists
- Shower of Roses has a great Lent and Easter Booklist
- Picture Book List for Lent and Easter from The Kennedy Adventures
Lent Feast Table Decoration Ideas:
Here are a few other ideas you may enjoy browsing for inspiration for your feast table.
I was unable to find the blog that this came from. Maybe it’s defunct. Either way, I love this simple decoration!
Simple grapevine wreath with toothpicks stained to match and pillar candle from Waltzing Matilda.
Look at this gorgeous crown of thorns center piece. Read the original post from Sun and Candlelight. She has very purposeful reasons for this decoration.
Don’t have a purple candle? No problem. This sand and rock centerpiece is perfect!
