The year is almost half way gone and I’m halfway done with my feast table resolution! How can that be? Time to think about our June Feast Table! (Here are all the feast table posts in one place.)
Things have been moving around in our home quite a bit lately. Every now and then I get an itch to shift and change the landscape of our interior. I find it refreshing! As a result, the feast table as moved….yet again!
First it was in the living room behind the couch.
Then it moved to the entryway, but I never liked it here.
Right now it resides in our living room on a bookshelf. I’m still working on making it look a little better (someone needs to pick up Joan of Arc under the shelf!). It may all change again as this room is on the docket to be painted in the near future. Out with the gold!
UPDATE (12/12/2016): Once July hit, I was sick of the dilapidated shelf look and the feast table moved again to the entrance hall. I repainted the mirror and used a different table and now the feast table has remained unmoved since!)

Last Minute Sacred and Immaculate Heart Meal
I was wanting to divide some of my perennials for a friend and asked their whole family over for supper last minute. They happened to come over on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so I thought it would be fun to throw together a liturgically appropriate meal. I often make pizza when we entertain because it’s cheap, easy, and a crowd-pleaser for adults and kids. Well the pizzas easily transformed into the Sacred and Immaculate Heart.
It was such an easy meal to throw together (all made from stuff we had around) and the kids were able to help me decorate the pizzas. They enjoyed learning the symbolism behind the images of the hearts of Jesus and Mary. The pizzas certainly aren’t picture perfect, but it is fun to let the kids get dirty in the kitchen.
Immaculate Heart of Mary Pizza: Shape pizza dough into a heart. Use mozzarella cheese on entire pizza and then add a bit of cheddar cheese at the top of the heart for the flame. Slice tomatoes and layer in the middle of the pizza. Slice olives in half and lay on top of pizza to form a sword.
Sacred Heart of Jesus Pizza: Shape pizza dough into a circle. Use mozzarella cheese on entire pizza and then sprinkle cheddar cheese just at the top of the pizza. Slice olives in half and arrange as a cross on top of the cheddar cheese. Using sliced peppers (any color) crisscross the middle of the circle to form a crown of thorns.
