Let’s chat about living St. Teresa of Avila feast day in the Catholic home today, shall we?
Life has been a bit crazy the past few years. To be honest, living liturgically has been on the back burner.
We’ve continued to read great Catholic books with the kids and live a life that is influenced and molded by our Catholic faith through it all, BUT I’ve been itching to celebrate the feast days with food and festivity again!
October is such a liturgically rich month, and, in my opinion it is a great time to start practicing liturgically living. Gets you all warmed up for All Saints’, Advent, and Christmas!
You can check out our October Feast Table 2017 Edition and 2018 Edition for some more liturgical inspiration!
I sat down with my favorite Catholic planner (ha!), shopping list, and menu plan last Friday and gave some thought to the liturgical events of the coming week. I’m excited to share with my kiddos and with you all!
I hope we can keep doing this series where I can give you a glimpse into our own Catholic home and round up a few inspirational links as well!
St. Teresa of Avila Feast Day
St. Teresa of Avila Feast Table Decor:
I honestly love this One Hundred Saints book. So inexpensive and the fastest saint feast day decor!
St. Teresa of Avila Books:
I usually let the kids choose what book they would like to read from for the day. Here are the choices of what we have in our home.
- Story of St. Teresa of Avila from Saints for Girls
- St. Teresa the Carmelite from Illustrated Lives of the Saints for Catholic Children
- Saint Teresa of Avila in Picture Book of the Saints (very reasonable used on Amazon)
St. Teresa of Avila Feast Day Food:
Honestly, this is one of my favorite ways to celebrate a feast day. It is so easy to be a bit creative and come up with liturgically appropriate fare. I’m into warm and cozy drinks this time of year!
Carmelite Chai Latte
- 4 chai tea bags
- 2 C. water
- 2 C. milk of choice (whole milk gives the richest taste!)
- 1/4 C. brown sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. maple extract
- Whipped cream
- Maple Syrup (or caramel ice cream sauce)
Brew tea with the 2 C. hot water. Warm milk and sugar in pot, add extracts and tea mixture. Serve into cups, top with whipped cream and drizzle with maple syrup or caramel ice cream topping. (Serves 4)
St. Teresa Feast Day Activities:
A book and a treat will be the gist of our celebration, but a coloring page to keep little hands busy during story time or school hours is always welcome in our house!

We will certainly not be exhausting every.single.thing.to.be.done. on the feast day, so here are a few other links for your inspiration!
