Food for the Feast of St. Brigid’s
- Homemade Butter
- Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread
- Irish Stew
You could prepare a complete Irish meal (Irish stew anyone?), but after our St. John Bosco feast the night before, we opted for a simple snack of homemade bread and homemade butter.
Shaking up your own butter is perfect for this feast day.
The master heard about Brigid’s kindness to the poor. He said to his wife, “Let us go to the dairy and make sure Brigid does not give away too much of our food.”
They took a big basket and went to find Brigid. They told her they had come for the butter. While Brigid put the butter in the basket, she asked God to let there be enough for the master. When she gave the basket to him, it was full.
The master knew then that God was with Brigid.”

St. Brigid’s generosity would make it a perfect day to give away some delicious butter and bread to friends or share with someone you know is in need.
